Description

John Coltrane 1964 McKie's Chicago Concert Poster for 10-Day Stand. An original cardboard window card advertising three different residencies in the jazz world at McKie's nightclub in Chicago, Illinois in the late spring and summer of 1964. The board's highlight by far is the presence of saxophone god John Coltrane, appearing from Wednesday July 15 through Sunday July 26. Getting Trane on any concert poster is a rare feat. The other musicians with residencies advertised are the Jazz Crusaders and Jack McDuff. Measures a shade over 17" x 26" and grades to Near Mint condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: This was the era of Coltrane's "classic quartet" outfit which consisted of pianist McCoy Tyner, drummer Elvin Jones and newest member Jimmy Garrison on bass. This was the year Trane recorded his classic album A Love Supreme with those musicians (plus some guests).

Condition details: Has only the slightest of bumped corners and light general toning throughout. Was stored immaculately for 58 years.
