Dorsey Burnette & the Rock 'n Roll Trio 1956 Concert Poster, Opening for Carl Perkins. An original advertising window card for the legendary Rock 'n Roll Trio, opening up for Carl Perkins in the fall of 1956 at the very dawn of rockabilly. Even bottom-billed Ray Harris is a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, and both he and Perkins were on the legendary Sun Records label. This is an all-rockabilly concert poster from the deep south that is surely the only specimen that must have survived.

The Trio released their album within a couple of months of this show, but with commercial success eluding them, broke up less than a year later. So trying to find them on a concert poster is like trying to find a dodo bird.

Headliner Perkins needs no introduction, of course, as a founding father of rockabilly himself. This was truly his golden year, 1956, when he unleashed "Blue Suede Shoes" on the world, and Elvis Presley, after which the train definitely got a-rollin'.

One of the true seminal albums of 50's rock & roll and rockabilly is the Johnny Burnette and the Rock 'n Roll Trio LP on Coral Records. Dorsey and Johnny Burnette were brothers in this group. The LP is a valuable collector's item and has influenced countless guitarists in its wake, including Jimmy Page. As a result, Led Zeppelin opened every show on their first couple of American tours with "Train Kept A-Rollin'" from the album.

Poster measures 13 1/8" x 21" and is in Very Good condition. Was once quarter-folded to fit into the files of Hatch Show Print. Some dark-blue-ink color breaking along both the horizontal and vertical creases. On verso, the ancient creases are evident and cracking in spots, especially on the horizontal one, but in no danger of coming loose or breaking. Hatch printed this one slightly smaller than the standard 14" x 22"; it was not trimmed. No fading, tack holes, writing, scratching, staining or other damage.
