Description
I Could Go on Singing (United Artists, 1963), Judy Garland "Jenny Bowman" Set of (2) Costume Sketches of Green Suit by Edith Head. Pair of vintage original costume sketches accomplished in gouache and ink on 14" x 17" artist's paper by legendary costume designer Edith Head. One illustration features a green jacket and skirt suit over a brown long-sleeved sweater top. Includes various production notes, including "Early test", "OK to make full Sprague", and "length okayed". Edith's signature is at the bottom left. The other sketch depicts a full figure, in typical Judy stance, wearing a green skirt and brown sweater top without the jacket. Upper left corner exhibits handwritten notes, "Judy Garland 'I Could Go on Singing'", and "brown top". Edith's signature is at the bottom right. All outfits were created in California and shipped to England where the filming took place. Judy gained weight in the time between fittings and filming, so some costumes were altered while others were replaced. The on-screen green suit appears different from the original design and may be a replacement. Exhibiting age and production handling with minor paper loss at top margin from being pulled from staples. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
