A Place in the Sun (Paramount, 1951), Elizabeth Taylor "Angela Vickers" Black Cocktail Dress Costume Sketch by Edith Head. Vintage original A Place in the Sun (1951) costume sketch accomplished in gouache, graphite and ink on 14" x 17" artist's paper by legendary costume designer Edith Head. Illustration features Angela Vickers (Elizabeth Taylor) in a black cocktail dress with a fitted bodice, voluminous skirt and sheer puffy quarter-length sleeves. Written in pencil at the top right corner is 'Angela at dinner,' along with notes mentioning her wearing the dress while running, plus other production notations. Unsigned. This dress is worn by Taylor when she and George Eastman (Montgomery Clift) attend a Hawaiian dinner hosted by Angela's parents while wearing leis. Head won the Oscar for this film for Best Costume Design. Exhibiting expected age and production handling. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Auction Info
