Vintage original (52) United Airlines and American Airlines luggage claim-tags, plus (1) United Airlines in-flight menu, each signed by its corresponding celebrity passenger(s). An extraordinary range of film, music, sports, and newsworthy notable figures of the time, including but not limited to: Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Joe Louis, Louis Armstrong, Ward Bond, Burl Ives, Nat King Cole, Liberace (x2), Ruth Draper, Basil Rathbone, Lloyd Bridges, Hedda Hopper, Paul Robeson (x2), Ray Brown, Ava Gardner, Betty MacDonald, Billy Eckstine and Ruth Brown, Howard da Silva, Gail Russell and Guy Madison, Louis Jordan, Edgar Bergan (and Charlie McCarthy), Vice President Alben Barkley, Paul Callaway, Joan Davis, Frankie Lane, Orson Welles, Harold Russell, Joan Bennett, Rocky Lane, Ray Milland, Harold Lloyd, Joe E. Brown, Jack Dempsey, Jack Carson, Charles Taggart, Archie Moore, Susan Hayward, Kay Francis, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Rory Calhoun, Walter Pidgeon, Robert Taylor, Miss America Lee Meriwether, Sophie Tucker, Rosa Parks, J.C. Penney, Eleanor Roosevelt (x2) and General Douglas MacArthur. Of particular note within this collection is the preponderance of historically significant African-Americans. Collection throughout is remarkably well-preserved, having for the large part been removed from a scrapbook, leaving only fragments of paper photo-corner mounts at extreme margins to some.
