Pippin (Theater Production, 1972), Group of (4) Preliminary Scenic Design Sketches. Original group of (4) preliminary scenic design sketches by Tony Walton rendered in paint and ink on art paper each measuring approx. 13" x 10". This group of preliminary sketches for the palace design feature the gold-trimmed motif that was ultimately adapted and expanded upon for the final scenic designs. It was director Bob Fosse who had the idea to emphasize the gold graphic line into the show's aesthetics. The bold, vibrant visuals, created from golden rope drops, helped win Walton the Tony Award for "Best Scenic Design". Artworks are in production used condition. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
