Jan Miner "Madge the Manicurist" Costume from Palmolive Dish Detergent Commercials. Jan Miner played the iconic, wisecracking manicurist "Madge" in the long-running commercials for Palmolive dish-washing detergent. Madge worked at the Salon East Beauty Parlor and had customers soak their fingernails in a dish of Palmolive and told them that, "You're soaking in it" and "Palmolive softens hands while you do the dishes." The campaign ran from 1966 through 1992. The costume was worn circa 1980s to early-1990s and includes a long, pale blue utility smock with "Madge" nametag pinned on the left breast, white blouse with light blue polka dots and integral scarf, and long dark gray skirt and is in Very fine, screen-used vintage condition overall. Acquired from Colgate-Palmolive.
