Description
An Ernest Borgnine Signed Contract Likely for His First Professional Acting Gig, 1948. An Actor's Equity Association "Standard Minimum Contract" for "Legitimate Dramatic and Musical Productions," dated "16 September 1948," for Borgnine's work at the "Barter Theatre Repertory Company" [in Abingdon, Virginia], starting on "1 November 1948" and noting his pay of "$65.00 each week," signed in black fountain pen ink in the lower right corner "Ernest Borgnine." Interestingly, Borgnine got his professional start in acting here at the Barter Theatre in Virginia which is probably why he saved and framed this particular contract; just a year later, in 1949, he was off to New York City starring in a Broadway play and just two years after that, in 1951, he was off to Hollywood acting in films and on television.Framed: 22" x 9"; Contract only: 20" x 8"
Included with a Letter of Provenance signed by Nancee Borgnine and Cris Borgnine, Ernest's children.
