Vintage Working W.C. Fields Electric Cigarette Lighter (ca. 1920s). Vintage original cast spelter metal figural cigarette lighter in the image of W.C. Fields in trademark top hat. The black painted, working lighter measures 5" x 5" x 4" with an electrical cord and plug emanating from the back. When the figure's red nose is depressed, a heating element on the central crown of the top hat heats up to light a cigarette. Produced by the Frankfurt Company, it has been suggested this figure was of a coachman character and not actually W.C. Fields, perhaps for fear of licensing conflicts, but the purchasing public embraced the figure as representing the legendary comedian. Exhibiting expected age and wear. Some chipping to paint.
