Description

G.I. Joe Adventure Team Mystery of the Boiling Lagoon Adventure Set (Hasbro, 1973). Hasbro's Mystery of the Boiling Lagoon playset dove into the Adventure Team's early aquatic missions, pairing Joe with diving gear and patrol boat for a high-stakes ocean-floor investigation. Released in 1973, this seaborne scenario captured the brand's pivot from military realism to science-tinged exploration, cementing the Adventure Team as one of the most imaginative eras of the G.I. Joe legacy. Complete with vibrant box art and specialized gear-including a pontoon boat, deep-sea helmet, and air hose system-this set became a cornerstone for collectors of vintage 12-inch Joe adventures.

This example is open in box, with all original accessories accounted for except the "Mystery of the Boiling Lagoon" comic. The contents remain in very good to excellent condition, with the accessories neatly preserved and securely packed. The box has suffered severe wear throughout, including heavy edge and corner wear, and widespread surface damage from creasing, crushing, scratching, and possible moisture exposure. One end of the box has been re-taped shut, and both the interior and exterior back panel bear blue crayon scribbles. A well-equipped and mostly complete example of one of the most exciting Adventure Team sets, offering classic design, colorful presentation, and a richly imaginative mission profile.
