Description

Gregg Allman's circa 1970 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial #204460.
Eric Clapton special ordered this Gibson Les Paul Custom from Gibson in late 1969/Early 1970 and would gift it to Gregory Allman on or about December of 1971.

Gregg would go on to use this guitar for his main stage guitar between 1971-1976. It can be seen in many photographs from the time as well as inside the album jacket for the Live record "The Gregg Allman Tour" recorded in 1973 and released in 1974. Name aside, Gregg is one the star players from the long-running southern rock band. Writing some of the Allman Brothers' best-known tunes (like "Melissa" and "Whipping Post"), he had a long and fruitful career.

The guitar comes to us from friend of Gregg's and is accompanied by a signed, notarized letter.

Classis black Les Paul Custom in good cosmetic condition. Three piece maple top and three piece neck. No Volute. The pancake body is normal in the early 70's. The original 500K pots were replaced with 300K pots that date to the 21st week of 1974. The capacitors are unlike those normally seen in this era of Gibson's. The nut is replaced and the tall frets show moderate wear.
10.2lbs. Hard case included. Condition: Good.
