Description

Bob Dylan 1963 Carnegie Hall, New York Concert Handbill/Postcard. An original concert-advertising handout/mailer for the nation's two fastest-rising folk-music attractions at the time, Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul & Mary, appearing at New York's prestigious Carnegie Hall. The trio appeared on September 28, whereas Dylan performed the following month on October 26.

This was six months after Dylan's first formal concert, at New York's Town Hall in April, and the fast-moving musician was already being elevated to the plush surroundings of Carnegie Hall - not to be confused with the small room called Carnegie Chapter Hall that he had played in 1961. Columbia Records recorded this concert for an album that never came out, although they did eventually release this night's performance of "Talkin' John Birch" as part of The Bootleg Series decades later.

Measures 9" x 5 ½" and grades to Very Good condition. A couple of water drops made their way to Dylan's side, the larger one above his microphone and the smaller one above "W." in the address. There's also an eighth-inch diagonal crease to the upper right corner, and another corner has minor rounding. The piece is also quite toned. COA from Heritage Auctions.
