Description
Elvis Presley Las Vegas 1971 Show Contracts (1971). Nine pages of legal contracts for Elvis, his band members and other performers with his show. Most significant in this lot is Presley's personal copy of his AGVA (American Guild of Variety Artists) contract, which is clearly identified on the front in red print as "MEMBERS COPY". No other copy of this agreement has this identification.Contract, dated June 7, 1971, is signed on the back in blue ink by Elvis Presley, representing himself, and Alex Shoofey, representing the International Hotel. The engagement covered is the 1971 Elvis Summer Festival, August 9 through September 6.
Lot also includes Presley's personal file copies of the fully executed contracts, signed June 10th, by the others working for Elvis and part of his show. Included are individual contracts for James Burton, Glen D. Hardin, John Wilkinson, Jerry Scheff, Ronnie Tutt, Kathy Westmoreland, the Imperials Quartet (signed by Joe Moscheo), and the Sweet Inspirations (signed by Eddie Harris, their agent). In addition to the usual three Sweets (Sylvia, Myrna, and Estelle), a fourth, Ann Williams, is included in their contract. Though the International Hotel had the Standard Form of Artist Engagement with Elvis, all the others in the show had employment contracts only with Elvis Presley. Simply put, the hotel hired him, and he hired all of them. All contracts are in Excellent condition. Go to HA.com/7022 to view them all! COA from the Estate of Elvis Presley at Graceland.
