Description
Elvis Presley "TCB" 14K Gold Necklace by His Personal Jeweler Mike McGregor. The familiar Taking Care of Business acronym surrounding a lightning bolt symbol as designed by Elvis in 1970 to give out to his friends and employees. This one is 1.75" long and on an approximately 29" medium-weight chain. It was given to Bob Lively by Elvis based on a handwritten and signed note from him included in the lot. Shows some normal wear.Mike McGregor's first association with Elvis was when he was hired to work with the horses at the Circle G Ranch. He was a blacksmith and saddle maker by trade. In the 1960s, he and his wife Barbara moved to Memphis from Mississippi to live at Graceland and work for Elvis making leather goods and jewelry. Barbara was an accomplished seamstress and designed and made some of Elvis' stage costumes. Mike stayed in his position until 1976 when he moved back to his hometown of Oxford, Mississippi, to open a jewelry store. Included with this necklace is a copy of a 1987 newspaper article signed by Mike and titled, "He dressed 'the King' in leather and jewels."
