Description
A Marlon Brando Sterling Silver Ring, Circa 1950s. Handmade by actor/comedian Wally Cox, in a masculine-style with decorative deep ridges around the outside; worn by Brando on his pinkie throughout the 1950s and early 1960s.Ring Size: 7 1/4
Wally Cox [the character actor best remembered for his role of "Robinson Peepers" on the hit NBC television series "Mister Peepers" from 1952 to 1955] was a studied and accomplished metalsmith and often made gifts for people he knew, such as this ring for his lifelong friend, Marlon Brando. The two first met as boys growing up in Evanston, Illinois and remained close friends as struggling young actors in New York City and then as successful actors in Los Angeles. Cox may have known the enigmatic Brando better than anyone else as he met him pre-fame when they were both still children. When Cox died suddenly in 1973, at age 48, Brando was given Cox's ashes. Brando kept the ashes the rest of his life and when he died in 2004, his ashes and Cox's ashes were scattered together in Death Valley, California where the two old friends were together again after 31 years.
Included with a "Letter of Authenticity" signed by Alice Marchak, Marlon Brando's longtime personal assistant.
