Kitty Wells "Queen of Country Music" 1968 Cedar Rapids, IA Concert Poster. A red, black, and white window card promoting the "Queen of Country Music," Kitty Wells. Born Ellen Muriel Deason, Wells stars in this poster and also features her husband, Johnnie Wright (spelled as "Johnny" here), for a Grand Ole Opry-style family show at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Wells was a trailblazer, helping build the road that future female country stars would travel on. Her 1952 single, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" was her calling card. The venue, which is still open to the public as the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center, was a basketball arena and concert venue, holding thousands of patrons.Measures 13 7/8" x 22".
