WORN BY TWO MEMBERS OF THE ROLLING STONES

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Gram Parsons Worn Velvet Pants (1960s). Vintage original custom-made velvet pants owned and worn by Mick Jagger, shared by Jagger with Keith Richards, later gifted to and worn by Gram Parsons ca. 1968. Made from velvet with button and zip fastening, adjustable velvet belt to the rear, and high trouser hem, with stitched inner lining. Known photographs show the pants worn by Mick Jagger including with Marianne Faithfull in August 1967, and at London's Heathrow Airport in September 1967; worn by Keith Richards in the back of a convertible with Gram Parsons, and sat at a table in conversation with Parsons; and worn by Gram Parsons at Joshua Tree. With a printed copy of letter of provenance from John Neuse dated October 24, 2007. Nuese was a founding member of the International Submarine Band and a friend of Gram Parsons from whom he acquired the pants. Nuese was an important factor in introducing Parsons to country music as early as 1966. In Summer 1968 Parsons moved in with Keith Richards, having left the Byrds ahead of a contentious upcoming tour of South Africa. It was here that Parsons became ingratiated with the Rolling Stones lifestyle, as described by Pamela Des Barres "Gram and Keith were kind of in love... they took different pieces of clothing from each other and traded. Gram started wearing make-up like Keith and Keith started wearing Nude bells. It was incredible to watch." Provenance: Acquired at auction in 2017 by the present owner. Literature: Twenty Thousand Roads: The Balled of Gram Parsons and his Cosmic American Music, 2008. Exhibits wear consistent with age and extensive use, including toning, staining to the back. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
