Description

Captain Edward J. Smith Signed Certificate of Discharge for the Britannic (1893). Vintage original Certificate of Discharge for a Liverpool-born seaman aboard the Britannic, dated August 1893 and signed in ink by Captain Edward Smith, who is best known as the captain on the doomed Titanic voyage fewer than 20 years on from the signing of this document. Measures 8" x 6". Exhibits toning consistent with age, previous fold lines, and a thin line of tape remains on the verso. Authenticated Signature: Edward Smith; other signatures are inconclusive.
