Description

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (TCF, 1977), Pair of Postcards Sent from Carrie Fisher to Fred Roos During Star Wars Post-Production (ca. 1977). Original pair of handwritten postcards, measuring between 3.5" x 5.5" and 4" x 6", from Carrie Fisher to producer Fred Roos, sent from various European locations during the post-production of Star Wars. The first postcard, featuring an image of Dubrovnik, is addressed affectionately to "Rooster" and details Fisher's travels through Yugoslavia, her return to London to "loop Star Wars," and ends with the iconic sign-off, "May the Force Be With You!" The second postcard, sent from London and bearing a black and white image of Shirley Temple, contains a playful series of rhyming couplets: "ROOSTER - WHAT'S COOKIN' / GOOD LOOKIN'... / WHAT'S THE NEWS / SADDLE SHOES... / WISH YOU WERE HERE / NORMA SHEARER / SEE YOU LATER ALLIGATOR... / HAVE A NICE DAY / OLIVIER... / I FEEL FOOLISH & THERE'S NO RHYME TO THAT / LOVE, SOMETHING FISHY." Roos, who was instrumental in securing Fisher's casting in Star Wars, maintained a close personal and professional relationship with her throughout their lives. The postcards exhibit typical signs of age, including fading, bent corners, and curling. The poster image is for reference only and is not included with this lot. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services. From the Estate of Fred Roos.
