Alternate Portrait of Johnny Cash for TV Guide by Bob Peak (1970). Vintage original artwork portrayal of Johnny Cash by Bob Peak for an unused alternate design from Cash's appearance on the June 13, 1970 cover of TV Guide. Accomplished with gouache and mixed media on 20.5" x 29" artist's board, portraying the singular musician in swirls of green, purple, and orange reminiscent of the hallucinogenic poster art designs of the 1960s. This design was ultimately not used for the cover of the magazine, in favor of a more subtle mixed media assemblage of the Man in Black. Signed by Peak on the central image area. Exhibits signs of wear and age, including bumped corners, smudges, and wear to bottom quadrant of board likely from water (not affecting paint). Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
