Description

Marilyn Monroe at Ray Anthony Party, Sherman Oaks, California, August 3, 1952, Original 35mm Color Transparencies (32) by Bob Willoughby. Vintage original 35mm color transparencies (thirty-two) on Kodachrome film in original mount of Marilyn Monroe at a party hosted by bandleader Ray Anthony, at this residence in Sherman Oaks, California, August 3, 1952, by Bob Willoughby, with KODACHROME / TRANSPARENCY and emulsion batch/processing code E13330 1W and MADE IN U.S.A., and exposure number stamped or imprinted on the mount. With highlighted emulsion, indicating that these are likely 1st-generation images derived from the camera transparencies. Press secretary Red Doff was charged by Fox to promote their new star, as Marilyn was filming Niagara, while Don't Bother to Knock was still showing on U.S. screens, with 500 guests in attendance, including Sammy Davis Jr., Mickey Rooney, who played drums with the orchestra, and canine movie star Lassie. Ventura Boulevard was bottled for hours. Marilyn arrived as the "surprise" guest by helicopter, wearing the hot pink dress designed by Dorothy Jeakins from Niagara. The event was partly intended to celebrate Anthony's latest single, entitled "My Marilyn," expressing his adoration, which he memorialized in a short film in 2019 titled "Marilyn and I". Very Fine/Excellent. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: "My Marilyn" by Ray Anthony

An angel in lace
A fabulous face
That's no exaggeration
That's my Marilyn

No gal, I believe
Beginning with Eve
Could weave a fascination
Like my Marilyn

She made me a poet
Thinking up romantic themes
Though she may not know it
She's all mine in my dreams!

I've planned everything
The church and the ring
The one who doesn't know it yet
Is Marilyn

She hasn't said "Yes"
I have to confess:
I haven't kissed, or even met
My Marilyn

But if luck is with me
She'll be my bride forevermore;
I'll be marryin', carryin' Marilyn through my door!!!
