Description

Herman's Hermits 1965 Honolulu, Hawaii British Invasion Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising one of England's most successful hit-makers in America of the 1960's, Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits. Coming "Directly from England," the group was playing at the HIC - Honolulu International Center - on Sunday evening, August 15, 1965. HH had no fewer than 11 Top 10 hits in the U.S., and one of them, "I'm Henry VIII, I Am," had just dropped out of the #1 position in Billboard at the time of this show.

Nice coloring of yellow and hot orange, as well as white and black, on this poster. Surprisingly, the group never had a "tour blank" concert poster made, so every one of theirs is different, and this is easily one of the better-looking ones. Measures 14" x 21 1/2" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Has a few diagonal wrinkle-creases in the upper right corner which catch the tip of the orange "In Person" box, but they're so on the surface that they're not there on the verso. Three or four surface bumps at the end of "Sunday" and beginning of "August." What looks like scuffing in the orange around "Herman's" we believe to be just a printer's anomaly. Like many old posters made to exist for just a few weeks, this does have "cheap printing job" evidence in a few places. Like that white spot next to the right musicians' ear, hard to tell if that's a yellow drop-out or a foreign substance got to it... but notice it's on the other side, too, off that man's shoulder, so we're thinking just cheap yellow ink. Verso has a couple of stray markings in the shape of dark lines, but the poster presents very well and is very solid.
