MORRISON & THE DOORS PLAYING THE MILE-HIGH CITY

FD-84 The Doors, Captain Beefheart 1967 Denver, CO Concert Poster Graded 9.8. A first-printing Family Dog/Denver concert poster for The Doors, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band and Lothar & the Hand People playing in Colorado's biggest city on Friday and Saturday nights, September 29 & 30, 1967. Known as FD-84 (D-4) in the Family Dog numbered series, this poster was created by Bob Schnepf, is nicknamed "Flash" and has been graded an extremely flashy 9.8 Near Mint/Mint by CGC (the Certified Guaranty Company).

By the fall of 1967, the Doors had made a national name for themselves with the #1 hit "Light My Fire" that summer; nice to see it plugged on the poster inside their name. The band's debut album with that track, an underground radio sensation, was still #3 on Billboard magazine's album chart at the time of these shows.

And yet, Elektra Records wasn't waiting. The Doors' second album, People Are Strange, had just been released to record stores a few days before this weekend. And their follow-up hit single, "People Are Strange," would enter Billboard's Hot 100 this very week as well. A busy time for Jim Morrison & Co.! Measures 14" x 20". COA from Heritage Auctions.
