Description

Shorty Long 1968 Annapolis, MD Jumbo Globe Day-Glo Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising Motown recording artist Shorty Long plus Chet "Poison" Ivy performing at the famous Carr's Beach venue in Annapolis, Maryland on Sunday afternoon, July 7, 1968.

Long was the first musician to release records on Motown's Soul label, a subsidiary designed for more blues-based artists. His biggest hit was the comedic "Here Comes the Judge," which was in Billboard's Top 10 the very week of this show. Long passed away at the early age of 29, and Stevie Wonder played harmonica at his funeral and then placed the instrument on Shorty's casket.

This first-ever Heritage offering, made by Globe Posters and featuring brilliant Day-Glo inks, measures 22" x 30 3/4" and grades to repaired Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Chameleon Restoration addressed a few edge and corner issues, touching up any printing or color where necessary, mending pinholes, eradicating surface blemishes and greatly reducing any creasing it might have had. The result is a fully satisfying piece with little or no evidence of past damage. Do note the light ink smear in the "S" of "Carr's," which is a printer's anomaly and not damage. General toning throughout, a little bit uneven in a couple of places.
