Grateful Dead 1965-66 Trips Festival Three-Page Press Release & Chet Helms Letter. The Trips Festival in San Francisco in January 1966 was a huge turning-point event, and the Grateful Dead were certainly a part of it. What's exciting here is this two-page press release that mentions "The Grateful Dead Rock 'n Roll" as one of many attractions, and it's dated December 31, 1965. So that's right, it's a true collectible on the Dead from the year of 1965! For which there is almost nothing, of course, because they had just changed their name from the Warlocks in November or early December. Also in this lot is a January 1966 signed letter from Chet Helms who was managing Big Brother & the Holding Company, confirming their participation in the Trips Festival. More Information: All three sheets have standard aging: the browning of once-white paper, plus scribbles, staple holes and such that just make them all the more authentic.
