Description

The Beatles 1965 Toronto, Canada Free Ticket Cola & Potato Chip Poster. An original mid-60's advertising poster for free Beatles tickets as given away by RC (Royal Crown) Cola and Shirriff's Potato Chips. This is a real hallmark of the endless deals manager Brian Epstein cut with American companies for the boys' U.S. tours. It was co-sponsored by Toronto's CHUM radio, who made quite a nice Jimi Hendrix poster three years later. One line puzzles us, though: "Contestants whose names are drawn will be asked a question of skill to qualify." Um... huh? This first-ever Heritage offering measures 15" x 14" and grades to Very Good condition. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: We love the way the four Beatles "floating heads" pictured here are the exact same photos used for Capitol Records' coveted Meet the Beatles motion display in early '64.

Condition details: Poster has much surface creasing to the glossy stock, most of it not breaking color except in the bottom blue bar. There's a vertical crease down the middle that's a factory fold which lightly breaks color, such as in the "B" in "Beatles." There is staining or discoloration down the far right side, growing in size as it reaches the lower right corner. There's an unaddressed ¼" edge tear to the right of the exclamation point, and one or two smaller ones which were once addressed. There is varying degrees of light tape residue in all four corners.

Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection. Some condition issues may not be noted but may be visible in the photos, which are considered part of the condition report. Lots estimated at $1,000 or less are not de-framed for inspection, and we may be unable to provide additional details for lots valued under $500.
