Description

Original storyboards from John Carpenter's The Thing. (Universal Pictures, 1982) These vintage storyboards were hand-drawn by famed Marvel comic book artist Mike Ploog in preproduction for The Thing to help director John Carpenter visualize the critical first transformation of a dog into the shape-shifting alien of the film. Accomplished in pencil on (3) 8.5 x 11 in. and (1) 11 x 6 in. artist paper leaves. Boards feature dogs being spooked, the alien dog beginning transformation, attacking the other dogs and the final board depicts Ploog's early concept of the final "Thing" as a monstrous insectoid creature with multiple legs and razor sharp teeth, and is signed by the artist. With some faint staining. In good condition.
