This unsealed CIB VHS copy of Star Wars comes in the first retail release 20th Century Fox Video drawer-box case and has a matching tape and box serial number. The only earlier copy of this film is the "Video Rental Library" copies that were exclusively produced to be leased to video stores for six months and then were supposed to be returned to be destroyed. Most believe those copies were shipped without shrink-wrap. This 1982 copy was the first opportunity for the public to purchase the film. It has received a grade of 8.0 by CGC Home Video, with a Case grade of 7.5 and a Media grade of 9.2.
