Description
Halloween VHS 1981 - CGC Home Video 9.6 and Seal A++, Full-Box, Vertical Overlap Seal, "$19.95" Manufacturer Sticker, Rear Vertical Silver Media Watermarks, The Motor City Collection, Media Home Entertainment. Originally titled The Babysitter Murders and a comment on the universal nature of evil (and not a comment about pre-marital promiscuity), John Carpenter's Halloween is a groundbreaking 1978 horror film that introduces audiences to the iconic masked killer Michael Myers. The story follows Myers, who escapes from a psychiatric institution and returns to his hometown to embark on a relentless killing spree. Released to critical acclaim, the film quickly became a fan favorite, celebrated for its suspenseful atmosphere, Carpenter's haunting score, and Jamie Lee Curtis's performance as the resilient babysitter, Laurie Strode. Halloween has endured as a beloved classic in the horror genre, earning a dedicated fanbase who eagerly anticipate each installment in the franchise, making it a cornerstone of cinematic horror history. This beautiful 1981-dated factory sealed VHS copy of Halloween with mid-production silver Media watermarks on the rear comes after the original Meda/Media release of the film in 1978/1979. It comes to us as part of The Motor City Collection, CGC Home Video's first Pedigree. The Motor City Collection is especially remarkable due to the fact that original purchaser would typically write the date that the item was purchased on the price tag, sometimes along with the store name or the street that the store was located on. Based on the handwritten notes on the price tag, this tape was originally purchased on 10-23-85 at a Music Land location in Michigan. They don't come much nicer than this copy that has received a grade of 9.6 by CGC, with a perfect seal grade of A++.
The Motor City Collection is CGC Home Video's first VHS pedigree. The gentleman who originally assembled this unbelievable collection had purchased items as far back as the 1970s beginning with vinyl records. He would typically go out of his way to write the date of purchase on the price tags, as well as other identifiable info like a city, street, or store name. His collection was unknown to even his family until his passing. The majority of the items he'd purchased remained unopened in their original factory shrink wrap.
