Hollywood Canteen embroidered celebrity autograph blouse. (ca. 1940s) Vintage original off white cotton shirt with short pleated sleeves, short lapel collar, and button front closure. Featuring the embroidered signatures of Canteen regulars including Lucille Ball, Shirley Temple, Greer Garson, Van Johnson, Jimmy Durante, Loretta Young, Claudette Colbert, Joan Crawford, Olivia de Havilland, Ann Rutherford, Ann Miller, Bud Abbott, Al Jolson, Alan Ladd, Jack Carson, Danny Kaye, Robert Young, Edward Robinson, Peter Lorre, Gale Storm, Joan Bennett, Shirley Ross, Iris Adrian, Phillip Terry, and many more. "Frank Sinatra" is handwritten in ink on the right side of the collar, presumably all signatures were, then later embroidered over the signature. The Canteen was a club offering food, dancing and entertainment for servicemen, women and allies in all branches of service. A serviceman's ticket for admission was his uniform, and everything at the canteen was free of charge. Shirt exhibits wear, handling, age, and soiling. In vintage good to very good condition.
