Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Bloodletting and VFX "Lucille" Baseball Bats from The Walking Dead (AMC 2010-2022, Season 7). Original group of (2) "Lucille" baseball bats including (1) bloodletting bat constructed of dense foam rubber with soft rubber barbed wire wrapped around the top third portion, drilled holes along the exterior, a hollow plastic interior tube with drilled holes along the surface, and 94" of rubber surgical tubing connected to the interior through the base, measuring 34.5" x 3" x 2.5", and (1) Visual Effects bat constructed of dense foam rubber with an abbreviated upper third portion wrapped in green VFX tracking tape with markers and capped with a soft red ball, measuring 26" x 2.75" x 2". Both bats have been expertly painted and studio-detailed to resemble the Hero wood grain "Lucille." Used in the production of the now-infamous Season 7, Episode 1, "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be," when Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) brutally executes Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), these bats were instrumental in creating the graphic gore effects that shocked and stunned audiences worldwide. The bloodletting bat's surgical tube was run up the performer's arm and through the jacket to allow the special effect team to pump blood through the bat's drilled holes, delivering splashes of gore across the set and fellow cast members. The VFX bat was used for safety during sequences where it was swung at a performer's head. VFX artists added the remainder of the bat in post-production so that the on-set performance could move at full speed. In the years that have followed the harrowing episode, "Lucille" has remained one of the most memorable weapons from the series, solidifying itself as a pop culture centerpiece.
