Pacific Rim (Warner Bros., 2013), Preproduction Concept Maquette for Battle-Damaged Jaeger Conn-Pod. This pre-production concept maquette depicts the battle-damaged cockpit (Conn-Pod) of Gipsy Danger, torn in half by the fearsome Kaiju Knifehead during the epic confrontation with the Becket Brothers, portrayed by Charlie Hunnam (Raleigh) and Diego Klattenhoff (Yancy). The brutal attack kills Yancy Becket and leaves Raleigh to perform the unbelievable feat of piloting the Jaeger alone. Expertly crafted from mixed media, including resin, metal, rubber, bead foam, wire and rubber tubing. Mounted on wooden base, the maquette measures 28" x 22" x 25". Exhibits production wear and intentional distress. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.

"I love models. I love solving big compositional problems at a smaller scale. In this case, we needed to figure out how long it would take to transform an 'undamaged' Conn-Pod into a damaged one for the opening battle of the film. Andrew commissioned this beautiful, dramatic maquette so we could break it down into how many elements did we need to change from one state to another, and how long it would take - and, of course, how would it look. All Conn-Pod battles took place in GIANT house-sized rigs and sets where we were able to simulate the Kaiju impacts in their totality." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
