The Honeymooners (CBS TV, 1955-1956), Group of Transparencies for the Jackie Gleason Bus Toy. Vintage original group of (6) transparency sheets produced by Wolverine Supply and Manufacturing for the design of their "Honeymooners' Special Jackie Gleason Bus" toy, consisting of (4) 10.5" x 8" sheets for the front and back portion of the toy bus, featuring 2- with Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleason) in the driver's seat and 2- with him facing out of the back of the bus with two women seated next to him, and the catchphrase "POW!" to bottom, and retaining original manufacturer's handwritten labeling reading "7359 Wolverine Jackie Gleason Bus" and "Back Red", "Back Blue, "Front Blue", and "Front Red" respectively, and (2) 13.5" x 16" larger transparency sheets for the sides and top designs of the bus, featuring a row of characters looking out the windows and the catchphrase "Awa-a-y We Go!" to top, and retaining original manufacturer's handwritten labeling "7359 Wolverine Jackie Gleason Bus" and "Blue" and "Red", respectively. These push-down tin toys were manufactured by Wolverine simultaneous and were popular children's gifts during the 1950s. With several wonderful versions of those toys on offer in this sale, this lot presents a peek behind the curtain at the pre-visualization and manufacturing process. The transparencies would have been laid onto pre-cut tin shells and painted on following the outlines seen here. Sheets are backed to bright orange studio paper with red electrical tape measuring 19.75" x 15.75" total for the larger sheets and 14" x 11" for the smaller. Sheets themselves remain intact and wonderfully preserved with minimal noticeable blemishes, with paper backing exhibiting bumps, creases, and other expected signs of production use.
Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
