Bernie Wrightson - Meat Loaf "Dead Ringer" Final Album Cover Painting Original Art (Epic, 1981). Following Richard Corben's iconic cover for Meat Loaf's "Bat Out of Hell", Bernie Wrightson was recruit- ed to create the haunting 1981 follow-up album cover for "Dead Ringer"
. His dynamic art features powerful figures and a fierce beast amidst stormy seas, blending rock 'n' roll with his legendary comic style. A striking fusion of fantasy and music, this cover is a must-have for collectors of both genres. Produced in mixed media on board with an image area of 29.5" x 29.5"; open-front framed to 31.5" x 31.5". Signed by Wrightson in the lower left of the image area. Exhibits light handling with a small folded section at the top right corner where the canvas meets the frame. Unexamined out of frame.
Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. "Oftentimes, I find Bernie's B&W work more striking than his color pieces. This monumental album cover caught my eye because its color balance and composition are part of its dynamic power. It's a knockout and remarkably rare in my opinion. Bernie developed a particular sense of musculature - one that he showcased brilliantly with Hanover Fist and some of his massive Creature of
Frankenstein plates - but it is truly rare to find it in color and in a single-image display."
From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
