Gilligan's Island (CBS TV, 1964-1967), Jim Backus "Thurston Howell III" Teddy Bear. Vintage original and aptly named "Teddy" bear stuffed animal, the sleeping companion of Thurston Howell III (Jim Backus) on the hit shipwrecked sitcom Gilligan's Island, constructed of a brown fleece-like body with yellowish-white fleece-like tipped ears, hands, and feet, with 2- matching onyx-colored buttons for eyes, thick red fabric bow tied around the neck, and vacuum-formed plastic nose and mouth sewn into the bear's face. Bear is stuffed to provide shape and appears hand-sewn throughout. Teddy appears frequently throughout the series as a source of comfort and companionship for Howell, the wealthy business magnate who ends up stranded on the island along with the other passengers of the shipwrecked SS Minnow. As one of the few belongings he brought with him on the original outing, which was only supposed to last a few hours, the bear holds incredible significance for Howell, representing the childhood he lost to his extremely demanding parents. Exhibiting production wear and age including dirtying of the fabric and some pulled threads to the stitching throughout. Button eyes may have been replaced following production. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From The Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Collection.
