Batman: The Movie (TCF, 1966), Penguin's Submarine Filming Miniature. Vintage original filming miniature vanity submarine of the Caped Crusader's aquatic avian nemesis, Penguin (Burgess Meredith). The iconic filming miniature is constructed of cast fiberglass with injection molded plastic and vacuum-formed elements. The hull is expertly studio painted gray, black, yellow, and orange to resemble a penguin, with added "beak" at front, rotating "wings" at side, and flipper-like rudders. The orange top deck is outfitted with wire railings, vacuum-formed gadgetry, antenna, and hatch doors. Conning tower with iceberg detailing, attached penguin with outstretched wings cutout figure, and hatch door. Penguin uses the submarine as the mobile base of operations for the "United Underworld", a group of villains including Joker (Caesar Romero), Riddler (Frank Gorshin), and Catwoman (Lee Meriwether) in the feature film that accompanied release of the iconic television series in the Spring of 1966. The impressive craft measures approx. 96.5" x 28" x 17". Exhibiting some cracking to deck, including a crack across the width, conning tower roost cracked and missing 1 x 2.5 in. segment, prow railing loose and missing pieces, general nicks, and production wear.
