Batman (TCF TV, 1966-1968), Signature Prop Batscanner Receiver. Vintage original custom-made Batscanner Receiver console, a signature prop from the Batcave featured heavily throughout all three seasons and the feature film of the original
Batman franchise as a central component of the technological tools and devices at the disposal of Batman (Adam West) and Robin (Burt Ward) in order to thwart the revolving door of foes who descend on Gotham City to wreak havoc. The Batscanner appeared prominently in the Batcave though was often identified using a rotation of names such as "Batradarscope" and "Terrestrial Scanner". The version labeled Batscanner appears in Season 1, Episode 28, "The Pharoah's in a Rut". This one-of-a-kind prop is comprised of (2) free-standing large metal consoles resembling early computing or military equipment that have been repurposed with acrylic display screens resembling radar functions while retaining their original toggles, switches, and dials. The units are on rolling wheels with matching colorways including center and lower panels and trim areas airbrushed pale-blue while the rest of the body is airbrushed to a silvery-metallic shade. The backs of each unit were purposely left exposed for electronics control during production, with interiors containing electrical wiring to enable practical effects functions of the radar screen and light switches. These units remain untested in current state. Each unit measures 56" x 37" x 23" and exhibits signs of production wear including chips to the paint, scuffs to the metal, soiling from storage, and some loosened knobs/dials to exterior panels. Units are accompanied by a replica 27.5" x 3.75" white acrylic sign with black text reading, "BATSCANNER RECEIVER". Item was previously exhibited at the Hollywood Museum, Hollywood, CA, "Batman '66 Exhibit", January 2018. Due to size, special shipping arrangements apply.
Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
