Batman (TCF TV, 1966-1968), Julie Newmar "Catwoman" Signature Costume. Vintage original (2) piece ensemble worn by the inimitable Catwoman (Julie Newmar) during her appearances as part of the original Rogues Gallery in the first season of the television show,
Batman, consisting of (1) black and silver lamé spandex long-sleeved body suit with standing boat neck collar, feet stirrups, darted waistline, 2- integral external hooks for belt attachment, half-length zipper closure to back, retaining internal studio label typed, "20th Century Fox", and (1) vintage original gold-colored metallic belt comprised of metal plates with scaled edges sewn to a stretchy burlap lining, with gold-colored buckle featuring gold-colored floral accent to center, and internal handwritten labeling smudged from wear. Newmar was the first to play the seductive jewel thief who harbored a love/hate relationship with the Caped Crusader (Adam West). Though variations on the bodysuit can be seen on the other two actresses who stepped into the role following Newmar - Lee Meriwether in the 1966 feature film and Eartha Kitt in Season 3 of the show - the scale belt remained consistent throughout each portrayal. This example exhibits signs of age and wear including some scuffing to the scales, though retaining bright color overall. Bodysuit exhibits signs of production wear and age though remains bright and form-fitting. Lot is accompanied by a replica cat-eye mask, cat ears, gold-colored necklace, black boots, gold-painted cat-pistol, large green faux-emerald jewel, auburn-colored wig, and black gauntlet gloves with gold cat-claw nails for display purposes.
