Jackie Gleason Personal Set of Golf Clubs (ca. 1970s). Vintage original set of golf clubs by Slinger and PING in an accompanying leather bag made for and used by Jackie Gleason, the multi-hyphenate performer who was also an avid golfer known for playing rounds with famous figures including Richard Nixon and Arnold Palmer. This set includes Slinger's #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10-irons, each engraved with Gleason's nickname "The Great One" to the side of the clubhead, and PING #1, 3, and 4-woods, engraved "Jackie Gleason" to bottom of each clubhead. The clubs are housed in a standard-sized brown-leather golf bag with a leather carrying strap and hand-painted "Jackie Gleason" to front pouch in white and black font. Items exhibiting expected age and wear from use, including discoloration to the metal shafts, wear to the clubheads, scuffs and wear to the golf bag, rusting to the metal zippers, and some chipping to the leather. Overall in vintage but well-preserved condition commensurate with actively used items. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From The Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Collection.
