Hellboy (Columbia, 2004), Mike Mignola - Baby Hellboy Concept Sketch Original Art (2002). A rough-hewn concept sketch of Baby Hellboy, summoned in the film's 1944 opening, his oversized stone hand and curling tail hint at mischief and destiny. Mignola's bold lines etch a war-born imp, innocence shadowed by the occult. While Mignola's original drawing mixes whimsy, cuteness, and a touch of devilish mischief, del Toro drew from this concept before ultimately settling on a more humanoid-yet still distinctly hellish-appearance for the young Hellboy, the adorable demon who wins Professor Bruttenholm's (Kevin Trainor) heart. Drafted in ink over graphite on paper with an image area of 3" x 5.35". Signed and dated by Mignola below the image area. Exhibits light handling. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
