Featured in the film's climax as Rasputin (Karel Roden) attempts its release, this slumbering apocalypse embodies the ultimate threat to existence. Mignola's art captures its terrifying stillness through jagged lines and stark blacks, channeling cosmic horror with minimalist precision and a weight that anchors the creature's mythic, world-ending presence-as seen in the film when Hellboy (Ron Perlman) frees the otherworldly ancient chthonic deity from its celestial prison.
