The Honeymooners skits performed during episodes of
The Jackie Gleason Show filmed in Miami from 1966-1970. Consisting of (1) 42" diameter clawfoot wooden table with a single drawer measuring 30" in height, (2) wooden table chairs with brown vinyl seat cushions measuring 38.5" x 18.5" x 16.5", (1) vintage cast-iron sink on gray wooden stand with multi-colored skirting and metal faucets measuring 44" x 25" x 18", (1) vintage Home Pride cast-iron gas stove and oven with enamel oven door, single interior drawer, 3- spigots and 3- removable iron grates, mounted to a gray-painted wooden base and measuring 34" x 29.5" x 19.5", (1) vintage wooden ice box painted antique white, with 2- hinged doors with latches and pulls, with metal interior, measuring 50.5" x 25" x 17", and (1) vintage wooden chest of drawers with 2- shaped half-drawers, 2- full drawers, and wooden drawer pulls measuring 46" x 32.25" x 23.75". Items exhibiting signs of production use, age, and wear throughout, including soiling to the sink, signs of re-painting, stove without burners and stove door chain replaced, scratches to surface of dining table and drawers, paint chipping to stovetop, scuffs and scratches to the dresser, soiling to the vinyl seat cushions, and paint wear and chipping to ice box, as expected with vintage production-used items. Sink skirt appears to have been replaced. This Kramden apartment furniture ensemble sold at Sotheby's, New York, in 1999 for $63,000 and was exhibited at The Brooklyn Historical Society.
Provenance: Originally obtained from Miami Stagecraft, the firm that provided the scenic elements for Gleason's Florida shows; Sotheby's, "Collectors' Carrousel", June 12, 1999, Lot #234.
