Army Air Combat Squadron Box Set - Open Box (Hubley, 1950s). Hubley's postwar metal aircraft sets were designed to capture the excitement of the newly modernized U.S. Air Force, combining die-cast durability with bright period graphics and dynamic box art. The Army Air Combat Squadron set brought multiple fighters together under one hangar-style presentation, giving young pilots a ready-made formation straight from the box. These sets remain emblematic of Hubley's mid-century aesthetic-sturdy, play-ready aircraft with bold insignia and unmistakably American styling. The box exhibits heavy overall wear. The edges show extensive scuffing and dents, and the corners display significant scuffing consistent with long-term handling and storage. Box-face surfaces show heavy wear, including scuffing, creasing, staining, veining, small tears, and yellowing. The set is open, but the contents appear unused, with the planes retaining bright finishes and clean surfaces. However, some of the decals have begun to lift, and two of the aircraft canopies have come unglued, though they are present within the box. For collectors of mid-century die-cast aircraft, this is a striking Hubley presentation-substantial in size, visually classic, and complete with all planes accounted for. It offers a vivid glimpse into the era when metal fighters ruled the toy aisle, and Hubley stood among the premier makers of American-made military toys.
