Eric Clapton's 1936 Dobro #45 Natural Resonator Guitar, Serial #8109. 1936 Dobro #45 Resonator Guitar in Natural finish, Serial #8109. This is a 12-fret, round-neck Dobro from the mid-1930s, featuring triple ivoroid top binding, bound back and fingerboard, and a spruce top with dark-shaded mahogany back and sides. The guitar shows only minor wear on the original frets and retains all original tuners and metal parts. It would benefit from a proper setup and fret work for optimal playability. This guitar was originally sold as part of The Eric Clapton Personal Guitar Collection, as documented in Player 7, Issue No. 557 (2012), and comes from a prominent Japanese collection. It includes a soft case with a vintage Braniff Airlines luggage sticker bearing Clapton's name and address.
Soft case included. Condition: Very Good.
This Dobro #45 holds both historical and musical significance as a pre-war resonator and as part of Eric Clapton's personal collection. Clapton's known affinity for roots and blues instruments adds meaningful context to this guitar's provenance. With its original hardware and rich patina, this Dobro exemplifies the craftsmanship of 1930s American resonator guitars, while the Clapton association makes it a rare and collectible piece. Instruments from his collection are prized for their authenticity and connection to one of the most influential guitarists in rock and blues history. This is a remarkable opportunity to own not just a fine vintage Dobro, but a personal piece of Eric Clapton's musical legacy.
