Brian Jones Owned Moroccan Shirt With Embroidered Collar and Cuffs (Late 1960s). Vintage garment owned by legendary Stones guitarist Brian Jones. The long-sleeved shirt constructed from beige-color silk with Nehru collar, with decorative motifs embroidered in red to the collar, left breast and shoulder, and sleeve cuffs. Accompanied by a letter signed by Anna Wohlin concerning the provenance. According to Wohlin who was living with Brian at the time of his sudden passing in 1969, this shirt was a gift to Brian from his friend, the novelist and painter Brion Gysin. It was Gysin who introduced Brian to the Moroccan musicians of JouJouka. Wohlin recalls in her letter that "Brian was very excited about the new album [JouJouka] and were were packing to go and visit him [Gysin] in Morocco when Brian died". Provenance: The collection of Anna Wohlin, Brian Jones' girlfriend who lived with him at Cotchford Farm in 1969; Bonhams London, June 28, 2017, Lot 113; Acquired from this auction by the present owner. Exhibits light wear consistent with age and material, including minor pilling and thread pulls to the fabric.
