The Rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil/One Plus One Jean-Luc Godard French Poster (1968). Vintage original French moyenne movie poster promoting the Jean-Luc Godard film Sympathy For The Devil distributed in Europe under the titles One Plus One or 1 + 1, measuring 22.25" x 30.75". Extremely rare style-B example with unusual dripping blood artwork, the experimental and provocative film received a limited first release in France, combining footage of the Rolling Stones rehearsing their latest studio album, contrasted against Godard's reflections on global society and culture in 1968. Literature: The Rolling Stones 50, 2012, p.176 (illustrated). Charlie Watts recalls "the great French cinematic innovator" Jean-Luc Godard visiting the Stones at Olympic Studios between June 4-10, 1968, and didn't necessarily make a good impression on the band - while filming "he [Godard] managed to set the studio on fire"! This sale marks the first time that Heritage has offered this rare poster. Rolled and linen-backed, exhibits minor chips to the paper edges and wear along the central fold line, faint annotation visible to the left side, the poster likely trimmed.
