Star Trek: The Original Series (Paramount TV, 1966-1969), Revised First Draft from Shelved Series Spinoff "Assignment: Earth" Prior to Rework into Season 2 Episode 26 "Assignment: Earth" Vintage original first revised draft of the rejected pilot for the Star Trek spinoff series titled "Assignment Earth", studio-bound 36-page (as paginated), bradded on mimeographed paper and dated November 21st, 1966, with blue revision pages dated November 25th, 1966. Green studio wrap is labeled as "PILOT" to center and includes numbered stamp mark to upper righthand corner, likely indicating printing number. Prior to the original series renewal for a second season, writer Gene Roddenberry was exploring different avenues in the sci-fi genre, as evidenced by this draft, with a completely different cast of characters to that of the crew of the USS Enterprise. Upon the Star Trek series being renewed for a second season, the story was reworked into the series finale of the same name that would also serve as a backdoor pilot for the proposed series, which would be ultimately shelved in favor of a third season of Star Trek. The original pilot draft follows Gary Seven, a human from the 24th century, sent back in time to stop the Omegans, an alien race hellbent on changing the past and altering the course of history in their favor. Exhibiting expected age and handling, with signs of edgewear and corner bumps, and discoloration to spine of studio wrap. Inner pages present well overall. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
