The Music Man (Warner Bros., 1962) Group of Band Member Uniforms. Vintage original group of costumes from the theatrical adaptation of
The Music Man, including (2) red cotton coats with zipper closure, decorated with brass domed shank buttons, gold-colored epaulettes, and intricate pedal-shaped appliques made from pink felt and a metallic braid trim border, and (1) pink cotton pants with zipper front and hook-and-eye closure, with red stripes along the outer seam.
The Music Man is a heartwarming tale of con artist Harold Hill (Robert Preston) attempting to skip town after selling the city's residents instruments and uniforms, only to have a change of heart when entangled with the loving librarian Marian Paroo (Shirley Jones). When faced with the consequences of his crimes, Hill is saved by the town's youth, who all magically transform into a competent marching band that takes to the streets, donning the vibrant uniforms that are offered here. Items exhibit expected age and wear, with small centimeter-long tears to the back of both coats. Additional dirt and stains appear long front of pants, with loose threads on all garments. Original pants in movie appear white, likely indicating staining in wash to now appear pink.
Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
