What's Eating Gilbert Grape (Paramount, 1993), Leonardo DiCaprio "Arnie Grape" Lip Prosthetic on Dental Casting and Revised Second Draft Screenplay. Original pair of items including (1) lip prosthetic constructed with a curved piece of semi-translucent polyresin, similar to a mouthguard, affixed to a blue dental mold of the actor's upper teeth. Dental mold retains handwritten "DiCaprio / Gilbert Grape" and "RM" on the underside. Also included is (1) Revised Second Draft studio screenplay by Peter Hedges, 102-page (as paginated) and dated July 28, 1992, bradded in clean white studio wraps. Denture is stored in a 4" x 3" x 2.75" acrylic case. Based on Hedges' novel of the same name, Leonardo DiCaprio's performance as Arnie Grape led to his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, at age 19. Fans of the film will remember the distinct facial features of the character's mental disability, a look created by use of this prosthetic made by prosthetics director Rodd Matsui. Dental mold and prosthetic exhibit signs of production wear and age. Script retains handwritten name "Doug Miller" in ink on the front and back wrap with title on the spine in felt-tip. Exhibits signs of use and wear, including staining and toning on the front, bumped corners, and a 2" tear on the back cover wrap. Lip prosthetic originally from the personal collection of Mr. Matsui.
Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
