Beetlejuice (Warner Bros., 1988), Screen-Used "Killer Shrimp" Prosthetic Puppet. Original prosthetic shrimp hand constructed of slip cast latex with canvas tail fingers, expertly painted orange, black, red, and yellow to replicate a grotesque shrimp with human-like hand. Measures 24" in length. Also accompanied by an original schematic diagram of the Sandworm, another central and iconic prop from the film, executed by Mr. Short in graphite with Robert Short Prod Inc. watermark, rolled and measuring 24" x 19". During one of the film's most memorable scenes, dinner guests are attacked by "killer shrimp" after singing and dancing to Harry Belafonte's "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)". This puppet hand was used during that scene when the shrimps erupt from the table and latch onto the guests' faces. Exhibits signs of production wear and age, including some paint fading, storage residue, and slight collapsing to the fingers. Paint has worn on parts of the tails exposing a green canvas underlayer. The diagram exhibits some dampstaining and edgewear. Provenance: From the personal collection of Robert Short, who won the Academy Award for Best Makeup for his work on this film. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
